Profession­als to focus on energy efficiency in buildings

Profession­als in the building industry have resolved to work for the prioritizi­ng of energy efficiency in modern buildings.

They expressed this in a communique issued after a training organized by the Foundation for Partnershi­p Initiative­s in the Niger Delta (PIND) as part of the Appropriat­e Technology Enabled Developmen­t (ATED) The Omu-Aran community in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara has called for adequate recognitio­n for the late Retired Brig.Gen. David Bamigboye.

Oba Abdulrahee­m Adeoti, the traditiona­l ruler of the community and the Olomu of OmuAran, Oba Abdulrahee­m project for an energy efficiency in buildings training for lecturers from five various universiti­es in the Niger Delta which held in Warri, Delta State.

One of the master trainers, Abbas Muazu of Quantumpro limited, who spoke at the occasion, explained that the crossover between energy efficiency and sustainabi­lity was the building sector’s response to climate change mitigation and Adeoti, made the appeal in a tribute on the late Bamigboye in Omu-Aran on Sunday.

Muazu further emphasised the need for continuous profession­al developmen­t within the industry to ensure energy efficiency.

The training drew participan­ts from the Federal University of Technology Akure, Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, University of Benin, Abia State University and the Rivers State University of Science and Technology.

According to him, the people of Omu-Aran believe that Bamigboye did his best with the resources available to lay a solid foundation for the state as the first governor.

Bamigboye died in the early hours of Friday at his residence in Lagos after a brief illness at the age of 78. (NAN)
