75 aspirants in C/River bought forms through wrong source — APC

- From Eyo Charles, Calabar

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has said in Calabar that all the aspirants for governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly positions bought their expression of interest forms through the wrong officials.

Mr Francis Ekpenyong, who said he is the “authentic and legal” state secretary of the party as declared by the Abuja High Court, recently, said all the aspirants may have such forms invalidated except they all came forward and clarified from their leadership before the arrival of the screening committee which would have to get clearance from them.

Ekpenyong said the Abuja High Court had nullified every action and decision taken by the rival Dr. Matthew Achigbe-led exco and also sacked them from office.

He warned that those parading themselves as chairmen and secretaries should desist else they would be arrested.

Also addressing journalists at the party secretariat, Dr. Matthew Achigbe said inasmuch as they respected court supremacy, he wondered why the case was handled by a court outside Cross River State.

“In any case, our esteemed population has no cause for anxiety. There is no case in the whole issue as there will be no effect on our leadership.”

He maintained that the rival exco led by Mr. Godwin John Etim had no grounds to make claims

He also disclosed that as at the weekend, 75 aspirants had so far bought the expression of intention forms, returned same and were being screened.
