Why I will beat other aspirants for presidency — Makarfi

- From Ismail Adebayo (Birnin Kebbi) & Abubakar Auwal (Sokoto)

One of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirants and former national chairman of the party, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, said at the weekend that he would beat other aspirants in the primaries to pick the PDP presidential election ticket because none of them possessed what he has.

While addressing party members in Birnin Kebbi, during his visit to the state, the former Kaduna State governor noted the other presidential aspirants were of course qualified to be the party candidates but he qualified.

He said: "What I know is that I am more qualified. Some of them have the experience but there is one experience I have that many of them don't have. That experience of managing the PDP successfully in a democracy under an extreme political was more difficulty. That is why we are where we are today."

He told the gathering of political supporters in Kebbi that he had worked with many of the governorship aspirants in the state at both party and Senate levels, noting that he was in Kebbi State to familiarize himself with the PDP supporters and not to campaign.

Makarfi, who was also in Sokoto, said it was possible to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in a free and fair contest.

He said the National Working Committee and BOT of the PDP were working diligently to ensure the primaries of the party held without any rancour.
