Incumbency not a threat to me - Kuje chairmanship aspirant

- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

A chairmanship aspirant in next year’s council election in Kuje Area Council, Alhaji Hamid Sarki Gaube, has said he does not see the incumbent chairman of the council, Abdullahi Galadima, as a threat to him clinching the party’s ticket.

Gaube, who spoke with our reporter after he submitted his APC nomination and expression of interest forms at the FCT secretariat of the party in Abuja, said he was confident of winning the party’s primaries if a free and fair primary was held by the party.

“I don’t see incumbency as a threat and my reasons are that in a democracy, it is all about the masses and not about an individual. Nobody is powerful when it comes to democracy. And I think I have the masses by my side so I am confident that I am winning the ticket if a level playing ground is provided, “he said.

He added that he was confident because he was part of the system that brought the incumbent chairman to power in 2016, and so he understood how the system worked.

He said he was not seeking for the chairmanship of the council to turn it into a business venture, but rather to liberate the masses across the nooks and crannies of the area.

“In fact, we don’t need a soothsayer to tell us the situation of things in Kuje area council as everybody is aware that nothing is happening in Kuje as the APC manifesto is not being implemented,” the aspirant further claimed.
