Man docked over church burglary

A30-year old man, Sola Fabiyi, was on Friday arraigned before an Ogba Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly breaking into a Pentecosta­l church, Full Gospel Church, Odutola Estate, Alagbado, and stole church equipment worth millions of Naira.

The Police said that the accused allegedly conspired with others who are still at large to steal the equipment which included a motorcycle with registrati­ons LAR 537Q J belonging to one Oluwatobi Fatosinmi, keyboard, others.

The prosecutor, Inspector V. Eruda, told the that the accused led a gang of dare-devil robbers to the church penultimat­e Monday.

He said that the accused and his gang broke into the church auditorium. According to him, the accused searched for money in the offering box and that when they did not find any cash decided to cart away the musical instrument­s and the motorcycle.

He said members of the church discovered that their church had mixer, musical slave engines and been burgled the next morning when they came for worship, adding that they reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the accused.

The accused however pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor did not oppose Fabiyi’s bail but asked the court for a short adjournmen­t for trial.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.I. Dan-Oni, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition while the matter was adjourned to November 11, 2018.
