Pillars coach Musa ready for wounded Abia Warriors

- By David Ngobua

@Ngobuadavid The Technical Adviser of Kano Pillars, Coach Musa Ibrahim has said he is expecting a very tough match today against Abia Warriors in the ongoing Aiteo Cup group matches.

While Pillars recorded a 3-2 victory over Rivers United in the opening match at the Lagos centre, Kwara United whipped Abia Warriors 5-1 in the other group match.

Although Pillars are highly favoured to win their second match, Musa told Daily Trust yesterday that they are not going to toy with Abia Warriors.

He said like wounded lions, the warriors from Abia State will give everything against his team to bring back their campaign on track.

Musa however said his team will fight for the maximum points to ensure they pick one of the group tickets to reach the quarter-finals.

“I am expecting a very difficult match against Abia Warriors. We are not going to be deceived by their result against Kwara United.

“Although they lost scandalously, that is not enough for anyone to deny that Abia Warriors are formidable.

“Pillars will give them all the respect they deserve. We shall approach the match cautiously because we need victory.

“Victory against Abia Warriors will brighten our chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals. So we are not going to be complacent,” he said.

He added that having lost the league title for no fault of theirs, what Pillars need to do, if they are to play continental football next year is to win the Aiteo Cup.

Musa maintained that Pillars have the quality to win the oldest competition in the history of Nigerian football.

“We want to play continental football next year. So our aspiration is to win the Aiteo Cup,” he stressed.
