Bauchi’ll vote for me as governor under PRP — Mukhtar Balewa

- By Hamza Idris

A gubernatorial aspirant in Bauchi State on the platform of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Mukhtar Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, said yesterday that he will win the race because the electorate are yearning for real change.

Mukhtar, who is the son of late Prime Minister Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, said he chose PRP platform because it was the only political party that had ideology and stood the test of time.

“I joined the struggle because of the commitment to changing the psyche, changing the approach to politics from one of being served to one of serving our people,” he said.

Mukhtar, who said he believed in the philosophies of his late father and those of late Malam Aminu Kano and Alhaji Balarabe Musa who recently retired from active politics, said values in Nigeria had been eroding for long because leaders had departed from redeeming the trust vested in them by the people.

“I would surely dedicate the mandate given to me to work for the welfare of our people through provision of basic privileges of life and an enabling environment for everyone to actualize his potentials.

“We would provide roads, subsidize ways of farming and health facilities. I am sure people would vote for the PRP because it is the political platform of the moment,” he said.

Balewa commended Malam Falalu Bello, the new national chairman of PRP for his new intiatives towards galvanizing forces from all over Nigeria in order to make life better for the masses through electing credible people.
