FCT polls: PDP screens chairmanship aspirants
The FCT chapter of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced the screening of its chairmanship aspirants ahead of the March 2019 area councils’ elections in the territory.
Among the aspirants screened at the FCT secretariat of the party in Abuja, yesterday, were the chairmanship aspirants for Kuje, Alhaji Hassan Bako; Abaji, Alhaji Mohammed Inuwa Ashafa; and Kwali, Ibrahim Daniel.
The acting PDP chairman in FCT, Alhaji Ibrahim Biko, told our reporter that the aspirants screened were those who would participate in the primaries ahead of the March 2019 council polls.
He said the party was working on presenting consensus candidates for councillors and chairmen.
He also said the party would adopt the same method for House of Representatives aspirants, adding that doing so would give the party an edge over the ruling APC at the polls.
The chairmanship aspirant for Kuje area council, Alhaji Hassan Bako, said he gave praise to God that the panel had screened all his documents without hitches.
He expressed confidence in clinching the party’s ticket during the primaries, adding that he had been consulting with delegates across the 10 wards of the council.
The aspirant called on politicians to play politics with decorum, adding that he never saw politics as a do or die affair.
