Zenith Bank charges D’Tigress to remain focused

Zenith Bank has charged the national women basketball team, D’Tigress, to put up a good fight in the quarter-final encounter against USA at the ongoing FIBA World Cup taking in Spain today.

D’Tigress on Wednesday entered Nigeria’s name in the record books as the first African country to qualify for the last eight stage of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup with the 57-56 points victory over Greece.

The pre-quarterfin­al game ended 15-15 in the first quarter but the D’Tigress ended the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters (31-26, 48-37, 57-56) to emerge winners.

Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Peter Amangbo, said his outfit was excited with the progress of the national team.

Amangbo charged the players to be focused against highly rated United States team today to continue their impressive run.

Zenith Bank is the sponsors of the National Women league over the years and Amangbo believes the team has demonstrat­ed the investment of the bank on the game has been a great one for the country.

He said, “For about four to five months every year, we bring the best players together in the country through the Zenith Basketball league.

“We are excited about the results posted so far in Spain and we want the girls to remain focus. After winning the African title, we hosted the players at our headquarte­rs and charged them to conquer the world. It is impressive that they are doing so already.

“Nigeria is blessed with numerous talents in various fields and we are proud to have contribute­d in bringing out some of these talents in women basketball.”
