Uncertainty persists over Lagos PDP governorship primary
Uncertainty over the primaries of Lagos State.
Daily Trust reports that the party had postponed the primary twice. It was supposed to hold on Sunday before it was postponed to Tuesday ostensibly in anticipation of the fallout of the primaries of the APC.
The APC which had also postponed its primary was set for a stormy shadow election tomorrow between still persists governorship the PDP in the incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and the former Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Babajide SanwoOlu who is the choice of party leadership in the state.
As anxiety over the APC primaries lingered, the PDP was dilly-dallying on its election as there was no definite date for the event.
Many sources in the PDP had confirmed moves by the opposition to woo the embattled Ambode with the governorship ticket to actualize its goal governing the state.
Spokesman of the party, Mr. Taofik Gani told our correspondent there was “no information” yet on the primaries.
But a chieftain of the party and former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, in a chat with Daily Trust said the primaries had been postponed indefinitely, saying, “We are not in a hurry at all.”
He confirmed party was biding of that the its time to “harvest the mistakes of other parties.”
Asked if the party would hand the ticket to Ambode if he loses out from the APC primaries, he said the party’s ticket was open to him, as well as business mogul, Mr. Femi Otedola who had been speculated to have gotten offer from the party to be its candidate in the 2019 governorship election.
Only two aspirants- Jimi Agbaje and Deji Dohertybought the form to vie for the party’s ticket.
