No explosion of any installation nationwide, says TCN
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has denied explosion of any installation in its networks nationwide in recent time, dismissing such claim circulating in the social media as false.
In a statement signed by the General Manager (Public Affairs), Ndidi Mbah, TCN said the Damaturu 150MVA 330/132kV transformer and the 75MX reactor had been in service since September 12, 2018, and were working very well.
The public utility firm said it was on track in implementing its Transmission Rehabilitation and Expansion Programme geared towards rehabilitating, expanding and stabilising the grid, as well as providing necessary redundancy and increasing the capacity of the grid to 20,000 megawatts (MW) by 2021.
“TCN engineers are presently working on the 132/33kV side of our Damaturu Transmission Substation that would eventually service the 33kV feeders in the next two weeks,” it said.
According to the statement, within the next two weeks, TCN would also energise another
150MVA 330/132kV power transformer and 75MX reactor in its Maiduguri Transmission Substation.
“It is important to emphasise that our installations are well tested before they are energised. The public should disregard the intentionally fabricated information geared towards tarnishing the image of TCN and the government as circulated by saboteurs.
