Trigger-happy cop shoots 2 fun-seekers in Abuja
An unidentified mobile policeman who reportedly went to a lounge in Kubwa, an Abuja suburb, has shot two persons during an argument at the bar section of the facility, Daily Trust reports.
The incident happened around 1am yesterday at Movida Lounge, around Phase 2 Site 2 area of the satellite town, a source who reportedly witnessed the incident told our reporter.
It was gathered that the policeman, who was said to have gone to the area in the company of a friend, drew the attention of others at the lounge following an argument that ensued between him and one of the bouncers at the lounge.
“The bouncer challenged the policeman for urinating at the entrance of the hotel. The bouncer reprimanded him on the impropriety of the act when public convenience was provided within the facility.
“However, instead of apologizing for his act, the policeman responded harshly and threatened the bouncer, shouting, ‘Do you know who I am?”, the source said.
The policeman reportedly moved to his parked vehicle thereafter, brought out a pistol and shot the bouncer on his thigh.
It was further gathered that the second victim was hit by a stray bullet on his leg while the policeman was attempting to fire a second shot at the bouncer.
The cop was later picked up by policemen from Kubwa division while the two people shot were taken to the Daughters of Charity Hospital in Kubwa.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kubwa, CSP Ayobami Surajudeen, who confirmed the incident, added that the matter has been transferred to the FCT Police Command CID for further investigation.
