Aiteo Cup: Pillars coach dubs Katsina United tricky opponents

- By David Ngobua @Ngobuadavid

The Technical Adviser of Kano Pillars, Ibrahim Musa has said their semi-final opponents, Katsina United are tricky opponents who must be handled with care.

The Aiteo Cup semi-final slated for tomorrow at the Agege township stadium will rekindle the existing football rivalry between the two clubs.

While Kano Pillars thrashed Enyimba 4-2 on Sunday, Katsina United had earlier on defeated Kwara United 3-1 to set up the semi-final clash.

Although Pillars are highly favoured to qualify for the finals at the expense of the ‘Chanji Boys’, Musa said nothing will be taken for granted.

Musa told Daily Trust yesterday that any team that has reached the semi-final of the competition deserve respect and Katsina will surely not be an exception.

“We are humbled by the fact that many people believe we are going to qualify for the finals.

“That is our aspiration but we are not taking anything for granted. Katsina United are strong and they too want to reach the final.

“It will be a very difficult match but we are ready to do everything possible to win. The match will be difficult but in the end, we shall triumph,” he assured.

Musa also said the quarter-final win over Enyimba will inspire his boys against Katsina United.

He said the victory against Enyimba didn’t come to him as a surprise because he had said the quarter-final was the final before final.
