Aiteo Cup battle with Pillars is mission possible, says Ajanah

Katsina United strong defender, Chinedu Ajanah has said the Aiteo Cup semi-final clash with rivals Kano Pillars is a tough task but not mission impossible.

The north-western clubs will clash today in the semi-final of this year’s Aiteo Federation Cup at the Agege township stadium.

While Katsina United edged out Kwara United 3-1, their opponents Kano Pillars thrashed Enyimba FC 4-2 to reach the semis.

In a telephone interview with Daily Trust, the Super Eagles Team B defender said Kano Pillars are star studded and are going to threaten Katsina United’s chances but added that the task is a possible one for the ‘Chanji boys’.

He said the existing rivalry between the two clubs will come to the fore again in Lagos as he noted that the match is a must win for both teams.

“We have since settled down and in Lagos and our opponents too came in this morning (yesterday). So the stage is now set for the crucial match.

“I know it is going to be a very difficult match. Almost everybody is saying Pillars will carry the day but I don’t think it will end that way.

“It is a tough assignment but it is not an impossible task. We know that defeat will end our continental aspiration so we are going to give everything to win.

“However, we are not going to put ourselves under any form of pressure. We shall approach the match like any other but with more concentration,” he said.

Ajanah also said Pillars won’t make the mistake of undermining Katsina United as he said their opponents know they can hurt them.

He therefore said fans will enjoy the best of football from the two teams.

“We respect Pillars but we are not going to give them too much respect. It will be a keenly contested battle,” he said.
