Eagles’ camp records full house as Idowu arrives

The Super Eagles camp in Uyo ahead of Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Mediterran­ean Knights of Libya now have a full house following the arrival of Russian-based defender Bryan Idowu to the Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort yesterday morning.

Allnigeria­soccer.com understand­s that The Lokomotiv Moscow star flew in to Abuja from Moscow before connecting a flight to the Akwa Ibom State capital.

It would be his first cap for the Super Eagles in a home game if he gets some minutes against the Mediterran­ean Knights, bearing it in mind that he was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with Democratic Republic of Congo in May.

Manager Gernot Rohr met with all the 24 players in camp before their first workout on grass at the Godswill Akpabio Internatio­nal Stadium.

The players worked out in the gym on Tuesday evening and yesterday morning as part of their recovery sessions.

Saturday’s correspond­s game to the which third round of matches in Group E of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier is the first competitiv­e match between Nigeria and Libya.

Earlier yesterday, exWatford star Odion Ighalo landed in Uyo before the Super Eagles first workout on grass this afternoon.

The Air Peace flight that brought the Changchun Yatai striker from Lagos touched down at the Akwa Ibom Airport at approximat­ely 13:05 hours.

Ighalo was able to board the plane despite the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Associatio­n of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and the National Associatio­n of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) embarking on protest yesterday.

Ighalo was amongst the scorers in the Super Eagles 3-0 rout of Seychelles on a match day two of the AFCON qualifiers.

Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho arrived in Uyo on Tuesday having earlier missed his flight from the United Kingdom.

Iheanacho, Hapoel Beer Sheva midfielder John Ogu and Deportivo de La Coruna loanee Francis Uzoho reported for internatio­nal duty at the Super Eagles Ibom Hotel camp the same time on Tuesday.
