The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) in collaboration with the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) has graduated 30 Kogi youths trained in vocational skills by the fund’s Industrial Skills Training Centre (ISTC), Lokoja.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony in Lokoja, ITF Director General, Sir Joseph Ari who was represented at the occasion by Mr Zachariah Piwuna said its commitment to skills acquisition programmes for youth was premised on the fact that it is the most sustainable solution to combating the rising unemployment challenge and reducing poverty in the country.
He said the graduates who were trained in the areas of welding/fabrication and electrical installations/maintenance for the period of one year had been fully equipped with the requisite skills to be self reliant and contribute to the growth of the Nigerian economy.
Training Manager in charge of the Industrial Skills Training Centre, Alhaji Ibrahim S. Umar, said apart from the skills acquired, the graduates were equally registered to sit for NABTEB modular examination for the purpose of adding value to their credentials and respective proficiencies.
A graduate, Tehinse Gloria, appreciated ITF and NECA for the training programme and appealed for supports to enable them establish their own enterprises and become employers of labour.
