Militias kill 5 travellers in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command yesterday confirmed the killing of five Hausa travellers in Pasham village along the Nan-Jalingo road in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The spokesman of the police command, SP Othman Abubakar, said a local militia killed five travellers and injured seven.

He said investigat­ion was ongoing to arrest the attackers

Othman urged restraint, assuring that the police were working to address the problem.

The driver of the vehicle in which the victims were travelling, who identified himself as Adamu, said the victims, traders on their way to a cattle market in Taraba State, were ambushed at Bali village in the morning by the vigilantes.

Adamu said he managed to drive to Pasham village for refuge, but the attackers surrounded them and beheaded four of them despite pleas from the district head of Pasham.
