- By Olusola ’Jide

Erstwhile head coach of Nasarawa United, Kabiru Dogo has said that the desire for a new challenge informed his decision to resign as the handler of the Lafia based club.

In a telephone chat with Daily Trust, Dogo revealed that his contract had expired and needed a new challenge.

“My five year contract with the club has expired and I decided not to renew it. I wanted a new challenge,” he said.

He further stated that the club management are not happy with his resignation and had made moves for him to stay but he declined.

“I had no issue with the club and they had no issue with me. Definitely, they are not happy with my decision to quit. It’s like a husband losing his wife of five years,” he stated.

He however declined to reveal his next move which he said he is keeping close to his chest for now.

Meanwhile, his resignation has also been confirmed by the team manager, Solomon Babajah, who wished him well in his future endeavours.

“Coach Dogo is a man of integrity. It’s nice working with him. He is a credible coach with great attitude,” Babajah noted.

Dogo while at the club, got the Solid Miners to the 2016 Aiteo Cup final losing to IfeanyiUbah FC on penalties and also led the team to the second round of CAF Champions League in 2007.
