Man stabs wife to death in Abaji

A resident of Abattoir community in Abaji Area Council of the FCT, Mr. Tope Auyekogbon, has allegedly stabbed his wife, Mrs. Toyin Michael, to death.

A resident of the area, simply identified as Gabriel, said the incident happened at about 11:00pm on Wednesday.

He said the husband, a welder, had misunderst­anding with his deceased wife and he used an iron rod to hit her on the head and also stabbed her with a knife.

He said the husband immediatel­y moved his wife’s corpse into his car and dumped it at Kekeshi junction, along Toto Road.

“In fact, it was some passersby who identified the woman, and luckily enough, her phone was placed beside her through a call was placed to her family,” he said.

Our reporter learnt that the deceased, who was a tailor, had not been in talking terms with her husband for over three years despite living under one roof.

Neighbours said the relationsh­ip between the couple became strained after the deceased allegedly caught her husband with another woman on their matrimonia­l bed.

Meanwhile, the accused who confessed to killing his wife during interrogat­ion at the police station, said, “It was devil that came over me.”

The late woman was blessed with a male child with the husband after 15 years of marriage.

When contacted, the Abaji Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Tersoo Tile, confirmed the incident, saying the accused had been detained as investigat­ion was still on going and that the remains of the woman had been deposited at Abaji general hospital morgue.
