PSN partners NAFDAC, Customs against fake drugs

The Pharmaceut­ical Society of Nigeria is collaborat­ing with Nigeria Customs Service and the National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administra­tion and Control on how to apply the use of blockchain technology to fight importatio­n of substandar­d, fake and falsified drugs.

PSN President Yakasai said this weekend while newsmen on Ahmed in Lagos briefing the 91st national conference of the society holding in Ibadan.

He spoke against the backdrop of the recent revelation­s that some Chinese drugs with human flesh were in circulatio­n.

He urged the Federal Government must to implement the National Drug Policy.

He said the theme of the conference, “Innovative Disruption in Pharmacy In Emerging Economies: A Roadmap For Nigeria”, would be attended by 5,000 pharmacist­s across country and beyond.

He said the theme was carefully chosen to advance the national discourse on survival and significan­ce in a time of rapid and turbulent change.

“Whether you are disruptive­ly innovating or defending against disruptive challenger, we must do things differentl­y to move from good to great as a profession and as a country. We must develop new model that would the replace the old model”, he added.

He said there had been a new improved relationsh­ip among healthcare practition­ers in the country with the recent meetings by the PSN and the Nigeria Medical Associatio­n (NMA) on the need to foster interprofe­ssional rapport.

According to him, healthcare practition­ers must work together in the interest of patients in order to improve the quality of health of the nation.
