Policeman, 75-year-old man, killed in Ondo farm

A middle-age man, simply identified as “At all at all” killed a 75-year-old man, Olusegun Oyadele and a police officer who tried to arrest him in a farm in Ondo State at the weekend.

A resident of Sabo area of Ondo town, headquarte­rs of Ondo West Local Government Area of the state, said the suspect was working at a farm settlement, Onipetesi camp.

He said: “The suspect caught the old man unaware and matcheted him severally before the old man gave up. The suspect threatened to kill other people on the farm before he ran away into the bush.”

The Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident, saying officers from Enu Owa Police Station mobilised themselves after the case was reported by one Veronica Olawale.

He said the suspect killed one of the police officers who attempted to arrest him and inured four others.

Joseph said it took a team led by the Commission­er of Police, Mr. Gbenga Adeyanju and the vigilante group in the area 18 hours to arrest the suspect in a forest at Tekunle village in Bolorundur­o Local Government Area of the state.

He said the body of the slain police officer had been deposited at a morgue while the four men injured were receiving treatment at various hospitals.
