‘Masked robber’, 3 others arrested in Lagos

A 21-year-old armed robbery suspect, who the police said goes by the name “Masked Man 2” has been arrested in Lagos.

The suspect, Ahmed Saliu, was reportedly arrested in Odoeran area of Oworonshok­i while he was robbing traders in their shops around 9.30pm last Saturday.

The police said the suspect had the habit of wearing different masks while on robbery operation.

It was learnt that the suspect hide under the cover of darkness to attack his unsuspecti­ng victims and that after each operation he would quickly remove his mask and disappear into the crowd.

Lagos State police command boss, Imohimi Edgal, who confirmed his arrest, said the suspect had been terrorizin­g residents of Oworonshok­i and its environs.

Edgal said the suspect, who had been on the police wanted list, had prided himself as being invisible. “Recovered from him were boxes of matches with which he planned to set the Odoeran market on fire, cutlasses and cudgels,” he added.

He said also that while on stop and search duty at Ikate pin down point, operatives of the command from Ilasan Division, accosted three young men approachin­g from Aboki estate.

He said the suspects were subjected to routine search during which two locally made shotguns with five cartridges were allegedly found on them.

He said during investigat­ion the suspects gave their names as Yinka Igbokoyi, 20, Taiwo Obadimeji, 27 and Wasiu Adams, 28.

“They are from Lakwe area of Ajah. Investigat­ion into the case is ongoing” Edgal said.
