Stanbic IBTC stages walk in support of handicappe­d children

Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC, a member of Standard Bank Group, has staged a walk in Abuja to create awareness on the need to help handicappe­d people in the society to live fuller lives.

The 8-kilometre charity walk tagged “Together4A­Limb” which began at the bank’s Abuja head office in Area 11, and took the team through some major streets within the metropolis was designed to help raise public awareness about the plight of children with challenges in the society.

Speaking with journalist­s after the road walk, Chief Executive, Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC, Binta Max-Gbinije, said apart from carrying out the campaign as its corporate social responsibi­lities, Stanbic IBTC had provided prosthetic limbs and education trust funds to carter for the needs of the children facing such challenges.

The provisions, she said, formed part of the bank’s commitment limb to see that every Nigerian is given the opportunit­y to productive and fulfilled life.

The initiative which the bank started four years ago, have seen about 60 children without limbs benefit from the initiative including the bank taking charge of their tuition fees each term.

Mrs. Max-Gbinije added that the initiative was targeting victims of Boko Haram insurgency in the North East as well as other children who have such related cases across the nation. child live a
