Passenger slumps, dies at Lagos airport
Apassenger with Etihad Airways, Mr. Ademola Adekele, in the early hours of yesterday slumped and died at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The diseased passenger was supposed to have been checked in on flight EY674 (AUH) which was to depart at 09:55hrs when he slumped while he was in a sitting position at about 5:30am, according to eyewitness.
Immediately he slumped, an Air Peace passenger tried to revive him by pumping his chest but he could not respond to the first aid administered on him before the arrival of the port health officials.
The health officials who arrived after about 30 minutes, applied oxygen on him in a bid to revive him, but he was said to have passed away.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria’s ambulance later moved the passenger’s corpse to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
The FAAN’s spokesperson, Henrietta Yakubu and the spokesman of the Lagos Airport Police Command, Joseph Alabi, confirmed the incident.
Also, last Sunday, a passenger of African World Airlines slumped at the same airport, but was later revived by the port health officials.
Meanwhile, power outage yesterday evening temporarily crippled operations at the airport for almost 30 minutes when an aircraft arrived for disembarking of passengers.
The FAAN’s spokesperson said the cause of the outage could not be ascertained at press time.
