Nigerian teachers win heroes award

Nigerian teachers have been declared winners of the 2018 School Safety award.

The award is instituted by the Independen­t Award Committee of the 2018 Safe School Awards.

A statement issued by the chairman, National Organizing Committee of the 2018 Safe School Leadership Empowermen­t Conference and Awards, Mr. Ike Onyechere said Dr Nasir M. Idris and Dr. Mark Ike Ene, National President and Secretary General of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) respective­ly will receive the award on behalf of Nigerian Teachers on November 15, 2018 in Abuja.

The award in recognitio­n and appreciati­on of the patriotism, commitment, dedication, determinat­ion and courage of Nigerian teachers who have sustained teaching and learning in schools across the country even in environmen­ts of escalating and complex security risks, threats and vulnerabil­ities.

Other winners awards were is at the Funtaj Internatio­nal School Abuja as Best Private School in Nigeria while Dr Nasir M. Idris, National President of NUT and Mrs Maria Mark, Director (Education), Ministry of Defence won the Safe School Leadership Impact award.

Also, Kenechukwu N. Nwosu, Executive Chairman, Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) bagged the Best SUBEB Chairman and the FCT Department of Quality Assurance went home with the Best Education Regulatory Agency.
