2019: Dankwambo tasks monarchs on peace
Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has called on traditional rulers to work towards maintaining peace and security in their respective communities as the 2019 elections approach.
The governor made the call at the weekend at the coronation ceremony and presentation of staff of office to the new Emir of Pindiga, Alhaji Mohammed Seyoji Ahmed.
The emir was first appointed as District Head of Pindiga in August 1984 after the demise of his father, late Alhaji Ahmadu Shuaibu. He was elevated to a second class emir in 2000, by former Governor Abubakar Habu Hashidu after he upgraded the Pindiga district to emirate.
However, in 2004 the emir was deposed by former Governor Muhammad Danjuma Goje and sent on exile to Tula town of Kaltungo LGA of the state.
After nine years in the exile, the deposed emir was reinstated as a first-class emir by Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo in August 2013.
At the coronation ceremony held at the GSS Pindiga Playground, Dankwambo said traditional rulers should maintain peace in their domains by reporting persons whose activities might disrupt law and order.
The governor said his administration would continue to protect lives and property.
In his acceptance speech, Emir Seyoji Ahmed thanked the governor for the projects he executed in the emirate.
He asked the governor to construct more roads in the rural areas to enable farmers to transport their produce to markets.
