- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

Amiddle aged tanker driver was trapped to death, while three others sustained injuries when the tanker crashed near a bridge in Abaji on the Abuja-Lokoja Road.

A witness said the accident happened at 12:30am on Saturday when the driver of the Mercedes Benz tanker with registration number JJJ 198 XB lost control and crashed into a ditch.

He said he suspected the driver fell asleep, adding that men of the fire service were alerted and they came to assist the rescue team of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to remove the driver.

He said the injured were taken to hospital and the corpse was deposited in the mortuary.

When contacted, the Abaji Unit Commander of the FRSC, ACC Olasupo Esuruoso, confirmed the incident, which he attributed to over speeding and fatigue.
