CDI tasks defence attaches on quick transmission of intelligence
The Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Mohammed Usman has told Nigerian Defence Attaches to focus on acquisition and quick transmission of intelligence for effective utilization.
Usman spoke yesterday at the opening ceremony of the Defence Attaches 2018 Conference held at the Headquarters of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), in Abuja.
He noted that current security challenges require intelligence that is accurate, timely, reliable and usable in decision making process of defence and national security.
Usman said in order to confront security challenges all elements of national power must be maximized and coordinated to work together.
He added that in the last one year, the DIA updated its intelligence strategy and invested in energizing operational capacity.
Senior military officers posted as Defence attaches are responsible for coordinating efforts to build peace between Nigeria and their country of accreditation.
The theme of this year’s conference is collaboration among security agencies as a panacea for combating national security challenges: the role of defence attaché system.
Usman said the conference is the agencies forum for goal, policy setting formulation and strategy for effective performance of the defence attaché system.
