FCT dept to aid women fend for selves - New scribe
The newly appointed secretary of the Social Development Secretariat (SDS) of the FCTA, Mrs. Amanda Pam, has said she will ensure that vulnerable women in the territory are given a new lease of life.
Pam, who spoke in her office on Friday, said women deserved to be given special attention so as to make their lives meaningful.
She called on staff of the secretariat to join hands with her in ensuring that a sizeable numbers of vulnerable persons were taken out of poverty so that they can fend for themselves.
“It is on this premise that I am seeking for your maximum support and cooperation and proper guidance on how this secretariat works because I know you are the people on ground and you should all be able to assist me to render services to vulnerable persons in the FCT, “she said.
Earlier, the outgoing acting secretary of the SDS, Muhammad Bashir, stated that he enjoyed the support and good working relationship and cooperation of the entire staff of the secretariat within the period he spent as acting secretary.
He said the new mandate secretary had nothing to worry about, noting that the workforce, especially those at the management level, were all good and very much experienced in their various areas of specialization.
He drew attention of the secretary to the forthcoming carnival and national sports festival which, he said, was coming up next month. He urged her to put in her best to ensure the success of both festivals.
