- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

A former councillor, who represented Gawu ward in Abaji Area Council, Sala Mohammed Gasakpa and 300 members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area council.

Among those that defected were a former supervisory councillor for Education, Vincent Agogo; former PDP women leader, Mrs. Mary Anthony; former Assistant PDP secretary for Gawu ward, Felix Gaji; and a former PDP youth leader of Gawu ward, Musa Yahaya.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Musa Yahaya, said their decision to dump the PDP was informed by the performance of the present APC-led administration under the leadership of Alhaji Abdulrahaman Ajiya.

He said the present APC-led administration has addressed some major challenges facing people of the rural communities, especially the construction of rural roads, electrification and water protects.

“In fact, we have seen what the present APC-led administration under the leadership of Alhaji Abdulrahaman Ajiya has done, especially the construction of Gasakpa bridge. It is now easy for farmers to convey their crops to the market in Gawu without any frustration,” he said.

He said they were ready to work for the success of the APC in the 2019 presidential, National Assembly and area councils elections.

He urged the party chairman to carry them along in all activities of the party.
