Be prepared with your PVC, youths urged
Yobe state chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Adamu Chilariye has said that ascertaining the status of supporters' Permanent Voter Card is crucial to the party’s victory in 2019.
The chairman stated this yesterday at a sensitization program tagged 'Operation Show your PVC' organized by Yobe Youth Alliance.
He said the program was aimed at mobilizing supporters for the party and its candidates for the 2019 elections.
"This concept is very important because, any person who has no PVC has no electoral value and invariably is of no importance to the party.
"I urge party supporters at all levels to ascertain their PVC status, mobilize every supporter to be prepared and to participate actively in the elections" Adamu said.
Alhaji Bature Goniri, chairman of the Alliance, said the program was organized to ascertain the PVC status of APC supporters in the state and their preparedness for the election.
"This is to prepare APC supporters especially the youth to mobilize for the election of President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Maimala Buni for governor, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam for senate and others.
"Shouting Sai Buhari, Sai, Maimala or the party slogan is not enough to win elections for APC and her candidates, we have to be PVC prepared for the election for the candidates to win the election" he said.
According to the coordinator, the program would be extended to sensitize elders and all supporters of the party to re-elect President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Buni and other APC candidates.
Governor Ibrahim Gaidam, commended the youth alliance for the initiative to reawaken party supporters and mobilize them for the election.
The governor, who was represented by Alhaji Lawan Shettima, commissioner for Works, urged the youths to conduct themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner throughout the electioneering period.
"You should avoid drugs and violence, you should never allow yourselves to be used as political thugs by politicians.
"I enjoin you to support politicians that have programs for the youth and a hope for your future; you must resist violence to serve any political interest" he warned.
