5,000 UDP members return to APC in Taraba
The Taraba State governorship candidate of the APC, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi, has received over 5,000 defectors who earlier left for the United Democratic Party (UDP) and other political parties.
The defectors had earlier followed a former Minister of Women Affairs, Sen. Aisha Jummai Alhassan, to the UDP after she dumped the APC.
Danladi, who received the returnees, said with the publication of the list of the party’s candidates for various positions, all issues and grievances arising from the recent primaries had been laid to rest.
He, therefore, appealed to all party members to close ranks and face the task of delivering victory to the party in 2019.
“It is good that you (defectors) have realised your mistake in time and have decided to return home in your numbers…I can assure you that most of the former aspirants are ready to work with us to rescue our dear state; the future indeed is bright,” he said.
A former Secretary of UDP in the state, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Kata, who led the defectors, said they retraced their steps in the interest of the state and described UDP as “a distraction from the task of rescuing the state.”
Meanwhile, Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State was confirmed as the APC governorship candidate of the state.
His papers were among those released by INEC alonside side the particulars of other candidates sponsored by different political parties.
A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, made the list as the PDP candidate, while Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, who left the APC, featured as candidate of the People Redemption Party (PRP).

Shu’aibu Ahmed Adamu, NNPP, Abbas Abubakar Abbas, ACPN, Bulus Yohanna, ADC, Abdullahi Garba Muhammad, ACD, Musa Mato, UPP, Umar Adamu Yusuf, NRN, Aminu Muhammad, SDP, Hassan Umar Usman Galambi, PDC, Zaidu Mati, BNPP, Muhammad Bello Yashi, KOWA, Mohd Auwal Hassan, MPN, Bahijja Mahmoud Abdullahi, ACD, Aliyu Umar, DPC and Aliyu Mahmoud, AD.
