- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

The Director of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service, Assistant Controller General (ACG) Julius Opetunsin, has said the agency intends to introduce fire safety clubs in schools across the territory.

ACG Opetunsin who spoke when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the FCT Universal Basic Board (UBEB), Dr. Kabiru Matazu, in his office on Tuesday, said the agency had already launched school some schools.

He noted that UBEB oversaw many schools and their infrastructure since there was need to protect lives and property against fire outbreaks.

The chief fire-fighter in the FCT said the agency had planned to conduct training on safety measures for staff of the FCT Administration (FCTA).

He added that the agency had 14 fire service stations in the territory, and gave out its emergency contact safety initiative in number, 0902906118, for members of the public.

Dr. Kabiru Matazu said he was happy with the visit of the fire boss, saying the board had massive infrastructure in schools and that the fire safety tips and training were important in the schools and offices of the board.

Dr. Matazu informed the fire boss that the board already had security education entrenched in the FCT school curriculum, assuring that the standard could not be compromised.
