Lokosa drums support for Super Eagles against Bafana Bafana

- By David Ngobua

Super Eagles fringe striker, Junior Lokosa is drumming support for the team ahead of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Although the Kano Pillars marksman who was put on stand-by failed to make the team for the trip to South Africa, he said he will be with the team in spirit.

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, Lokosa who had his debut for Nigeria in the friendly against Congo DR said it is not possible for everyone to play for the Super Eagles at the same time.

He said even as he is not among the players to prosecute the important match, Super Eagles have his more than one hundred per cent support for the 2019 AFCON tie.

Lokosa, therefore, expressed confidence that Super Eagles will take back their pound of flesh from the Bafana Bafana.

It will be recalled that South Africa stunned the Super Eagles when they recorded a historic 2-0 win over the threetime African champions when they met in the first leg of the qualifiers win Uyo.

“Physically, I am not in camp with the Super Eagles but spiritually, I am there with them. I am backing Eagles to beat South Africa on Saturday.

“What the team needs from all of us is prayers. All of us can’t play for the team at the same time. So even when one is not listed, he has to continue to support the team.

“Like I said, the match will be tough but the Eagles I know won’t allow South Africa to do the double over them,” he said.

Lokosa also said injuries to few players shouldn’t be a thing of serious concern as he maintained that there are capable replacements.

The former First Bank of Lagos striker said whoever is called upon to play in place of the injured players will deliver the goods.
