Man docked for battering policeman

The police have opened a case of assault against one Segun Osho, at Ejigbo Chief Magistrate court for allegedly battering policeman.

The accused had allegedly beaten Sergeant Christpher Udeye for daring to come for his arrest.

The Police said the accused allegedly escaped after he inflicted grievous bodily against the Sergeant.

The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, the suspect used a sharp object to stab the policeman and got him seriously injured.

Asibor told the court that the incident happened at Abati Bus Stop along Shasha Road in Shasha area of Lagos.

He said the accused was later arrested by a team of injury policemen Division.

He said that rather than complying with the arrest order, Osho attacked and stabbed the victim. He added that the victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment while other officers at the police station mobilized and arrested him. He was thereafter charged before an Ejigbo Magistrate from the Shashi court for assault and grievous harm.

He pleaded not guilty. The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O.Shomade, granted Osho bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.

The matter was adjourned to January 12, 2019.
