- By John Chuks Azu

A witness has told the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja that the election that produced Gov. Kayode Fayemi was free, fair and credible. The witness, Adunmo Rufus Sunday, yesterday, told the tribunal that Fayemi of the APC won the election contrary to claims by the PDP.

Candidate of the PDP, Prof. Olusola Kolapo, had alleged bias, violence, vote buying and general malpractice against the APC in the election.

Led in evidence by counsel to Gov. Fayemi, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), Sunday, who was the Deputy Director of JFK Campaign Organisation, said the election was devoid of rancour and violence.

The witness, who claimed to be in the situation room of the campaign organisation to monitor the election, also told the tribunal that all agents of political parties that participated in the election signed the result sheets.

Under cross examination by counsel to the petitioners, Roland Otaru (SAN), the witness, who tendered the judgement of FCT High Court delivered by Justice Othman Musa, said he was not a member of the Action People’s Party (APP) which instituted the case that sought to disqualify Gov. Fayemi from contesting the July 14, election, but was dismissed by the court.

Meanwhile, Justice Suleiman Belgore adjourned further hearing on the matter to Thursday, November 29.
