Lagos CJ uncovers N8.4m fraud in state judiciary

The Chief Judge (CJ) of Lagos State, Justice Opeyemi Oke, has uncovered a suspected N8,411,500 fraud at the Fast Track Division, Igbosere High Court.

The CJ has launched a full-scale investigat­ion into the alleged fraud. The move, it was learnt, is part of her effort to curb corruption in the state judiciary.

Investigat­ion through undisclose­d law firm to the discovery that a an led staff at the Fast Track Division at Igbosere in connivance with the clerk of a law firm, presented two receipts from Alpha Beta Consulting, the firm responsibl­e for collecting revenue in Lagos State, which turned out to be fake.

The staff, who was the alleged mastermind of the fraud is now on the run. He allegedly carried out the fraud with the participat­ion of the clerk of the undisclose­d firm who is currently been grilled by the police.

It was learnt that when the police arrived the Idi Araba Lagos residence of Oriade, the suspect was discovered to have packed out with his family and there was no forwarding address.

Other members of staff of the division suspected to be involved are also being grilled by the police.

The police, it was said, are carrying out further investigat­ion into the case to determine the culpabilit­y of all those involved in the fraud.
