200 aspirants attend APC reconciliation c’ttee in Bauchi
Over 200 aggrieved aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that contested for various positions during the party’s primary elections attended the sitting of the APC National Reconciliation Committee for North East held in Bauchi.
The North East delegation of the committee is headed by Nassarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, while his Jigawa and Katsina counterparts, Abubakar Badaru and Aminu Bello Masari, among others, are members.
The committee met with the aggrieved members from Bauchi and Gombe states.
The aggrieved aspirants made various submissions during the sitting, including a memorandum by aggrieved for the national and state assemblies.
The APC National reconciliation committee was constituted by the national headquarters of the party to reconcile its members in all the six geopolitical zones of the country.
The over 200 aggrieved aspirants were led by a former Police Affairs Minister, Dr. Ibrahim Yakubu Lame, and Cpt. Bala Jibrin, who contested for the APC governorship ticket against Gov. Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi State.
However, only a former Gombe State Deputy Governor, John Lazarus Yoriyo, made a submission from Gombe.
Speaking after his submission, Yoriyo said he had confidence in the Al-Makura-led delegation of the committee, saying with the calibre of people in it would do a thorough job and ensure justice.
Senate aspirants for Bauchi South, North and Central also spoke at the committee’s sitting. They alleged that they were short-changed because no elections were held in their zones.
Those who made submissions were Barr. Ibrahim Zailani, Sen. Mohammed Mohammed, Dr. Safiya Iliyasu, Alhaji Magaji Mohammed and Fatima Mohammed Farouq who contested in the three senatorial zones.
Seventy two aspirants who contested for the House of Representatives tickets in the primaries also submitted a two-page memorandum to the committee.
One hundred and sixty two aspirants who contested for the 31 state assemblies’ tickets also presented their grievances.
Head of the delegation, Gov. Tanko Al-Makura, commended members of the party for coming and opening up on their grievances.
Gov. Al-Makura assured that the committee would forward all their grievances to the party’s leadership for necessary action.
