Bello lauds armed forces on FCT peace, security
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has commended the armed forces and other security agencies on their contribution to peace and security in the FCT.
Malam Bello who spoke while welcoming the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Senior Course 41 participants from Jaji, Kaduna State, yesterday in Abuja, said the FCT Administration (FCTA) would continue to work with the military and other security agencies in the territory to build a capital city that would rank among the best cities through the provision of first class infrastructure and service delivery.
The minister, who was represented by the Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Umar Gambo Jibril, told the Course 41 participants that their visit coincided with the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations, adding that the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes, both fallen and standing, would always be acknowledged.
He said a lot of effort had been made towards the development of the FCT since the movement of the Federal Government from Lagos to Abuja in 1991 thereby bringing the city into the ranks of other new capitals like Brasilia and Canberra.
“We would continue to convey our sincere delight to the Nigerian Armed Forces, and indeed other security agencies for their contribution to the peace and security of the FCT,” the minister said.
The Course 41 leader, Mj. Gen. A.O Folarinso, said the study tour was to enable the participants have on-the-spot study of life situations and how they affect the socio-economy of states.
Gen. Folarinso said at the end of the tour, participants would make presentations of findings and recommendations.
He, therefore, called on the minister to make out time to be at the presentations, which, he assured would be of immense value to the FCTA.
