- By David Ngobua

Super Falcons attacking winger, Francisca Ordega has expressed disappointment that her name was not included in the best 11 team at the end of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.

At the end of the championship which Nigeria defeated South Africa 4-3 on penalties to win her 9th AWCON title, the Confederation of African Football, CAF, picked the best 11 players with the victorious Falcons having only two players in the team.

Onome Ebi who was rock solid in Super Falcons defence and goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi whose crucial penalty saves in the semi-final and final helped the team a great deal are the two Nigerians picked by CAF for the honour.

Although they didn’t emerge champions, Cameroon contributed four players, South Africa three just as Mali and Ghana have a player each in the team.

In an exclusive chat with Daily Trust yesterday, Ordega who scored two goals for the Falcons and won two Woman of the Match awards said she was surprised by her exclusion from the prestigious list.

According to the Washington Spirits of USA star, even players who didn’t win a single Woman of the Match Award made the list.

She however said the most important thing is that the whole world saw her contributions to the success of the Super Falcons in Ghana.

“Well, I am not losing any sleep over that but as a human being I felt disappointed because I deserve to be in the list of the best 11 players.

“I won two Woman of the Match awards and also scored two goals. If you look at that list, there are players who didn’t win a single Woman of the Match Award.

“The most important thing is that everybody saw what I did in Ghana. It is other people who are complaining on my behalf so I am okay. It is not in my nature to question such decisions.

“I helped my team to achieve victory in Ghana and there can be no satisfaction greater than that,” she said.

The former Invincible Angels of Gboko player was however listed among the subsitute along with her compatriot Asisat oshola.
