2 students win NYPF writing contest

@BamasVicto­ria Two students, Akinyelu Victory Melody and Ishaya Blessed Micah have won the Nigerian Young Profession­als Forum (NYPF) easy writing competitio­n instituted to mark the organizati­on’s fifth year anniversar­y.

Melody an SS3 student of Baptist High School Jos, Plateau State who came first got a full scholarshi­p while Micah an SS2 student, the runner-up got part scholarshi­p.

The Prize was presented to her by a former Governor of Kaduna State Ramalan Yero, in Abuja, during NYPF award and dinner night.

Also, several other Nigerians got awards for their contributi­on to developmen­t of the society. Among the winners is Imam Abdullahi Abubakar, the 83-year-old Abubakar from Nghar Village, Gashish district in Barkin Ladi won award for sheltering almost 300 persons in his mosque during a recent crisis in Plateau State.

Chairman of NYPF, Moses Siasia in his address said the forum was doing all it can to safeguard the future and destiny of Nigeria which he said depended on the youths.

He said, “We have given out grants to about 35 young profession­als in ICT and the creative industries through the “YES” scheme, supported by heritage bank.

“We have also given out scholarshi­ps in the last three years to some students; one of them got her admission into the University of Surrey in the UK, fully sponsored by NYPF and she graduated with distinctio­n,” Siasia explained.
