Slayed rtd Prisons DCG, Oloyede laid to rest

Dr. Adewale Oloyede, Deputy Controller General of Prisons (rtd), who was murdered by yet to be identified gunmen, has been laid to rest.

He was buried in Volts and Garden at Ikoyi, Lagos on Thursday 14th February, 2019.

Prisons spokesman DCP Francis Enobore disclosed in a statement that the ceremony, which commenced at the Olive Tree Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), was witnessed by a number of dignitarie­s who turned out to pay their last respect to the fallen Senior Citizen.

He said the Controller General of Prisons, Ja’afaru Ahmed, in his condolence message to the family, stated that the late retired officer was a discipline­d and hardworkin­g officer who used every opportunit­y he had to reach out to the vulnerable in the society.

“He did only pioneered the establishm­ent of a comprehens­ive health care structure for prisoners but remained irrevocabl­y committed to sustaining improved condition of living for not the inmates”, he quoted Ja’afaru to have said.

Late Dr. Oloyede (DCGP rtd) was the Head of Health and Social Welfare Services in the Nigerian Prisons Service for several years before retiring in 2007.

He was killed by yet to be unveiled gunmen alongside his Orderly, Michael Yusuf on 1st February, 2019 near Osara town in Kogi State while on their way to Lagos.

He was also the President of National Associatio­n of Retired Para-military Officers (NARPO) before his death.
