Election: Do not harm Corps members on duty, NYSC begs
The National Youth Service Corp has called on the general public to desist from harming National Youth Service Corp, (NYSC) members who would be posted to different election centers for the conduct of elections.
Coordinator of NYSC in Nasarawa State, Hajiya Zainab Isah made the appeal in Lafia during an interactive session organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), comprising of political parties, security personnel and relevant stakeholders, “Please, the general public and politicians should not harm these youngsters who are Nigerians undergoing national assignment and are partisan.”
Hajiya Zainab Isah, however appealed to the public to conduct themselves in an orderly manner during and beyond the elections for the enhancement of peace in the state in particular and the country in general.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC) in charge of INEC in Nasarawa State, Dr Uthman Ajidagba said violence is blind and does not differentiate between a politician and other vulnerable people. He called for politicians to avoid thuggery and violence, as only one winner emerges in every political contest.
Most of the security personnel who spoke at the occasion said they have been synergizing for long on how to maintain law and order during elections and beyond.
