Sports firm holds seminar on anti doping, hooliganis­m in matches

A leading sports consultanc­y firm, Success Tiyu Internatio­nal says it will hold a seminar to proffer solutions to the menace of hooliganis­m, drugs abuse and other vices that are prevalent at match venues in the country.

Director of the sports firm, Musa Abubakar, told journalist­s in Lokoja yesterday that the seminar which is to hold in Lokoja on March 4 would feature paper presentati­ons by top sports technocrat­s on various subjects.

He said the decision to organize the seminar was geared towards tackling various challenges militating against developmen­t of team sports in Nigeria.

“It is crucial and necessary to do this seminar at this time to re-acquaint sports administra­tors and athletes to have at the tips of their fingers, ways of ensuring maximum security at match venues to checkmate crisis and forestalli­ng sudden deaths on the pitch of play due to ignorance of athletes consuming harmful substances before games, amongst others,” he said.

He said a FIFA licensed sports manager, Shogo Shodunnke will deliver a paper on how to control match fixing, while a retired FIFA referee and Director at the National Institute for Sports, Dr Alex Mana will deliver lectures on developmen­t of grassroots sports in Nigeria.

He said a paper on how to discourage drug abuse and doping in team sports will be delivered at the seminar by the President of National Associatio­n of Women in Sports (NAWIS), Dr Olufunke Kajuini.

According to him, there will also be lectures on how to curb hooliganis­m and ensure maximum security at match venues by Elder Daniel Oloko of the Nigeria Referee Associatio­n (NRA).
