NRM’s Dansadau demands Zamfara REC’s removal

- From Shehu Umar, Gusau

The gubernatorial candidate of National Rescue Movement (NRM) in Zamfara State, Senator Saidu Muhammad Dansadau, has alleged that the result sheets for the governorship and state assembly elections have already been hijacked by the APC-led government.

Dansadau, in an audio file sent to Daily Trust, alleged that the result sheets were handed over to the APC-led government by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Asmau Sani Maikudi.

He alleged that figures were not only being allocated to the ruling party but also that the results sheets for the polling units, ward, and local government collation centres had been filled with fake figures.

He also alleged that the state government wanted to use the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members to harass election officials and seize election materials.

“This is a stern warning to them. Our stand is clear. Firstly, we are asking President Muhammadu Buhari to compel the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately transfer the REC from Zamfara and to also postpone the governorship election to 23 March 2019.

“The INEC chairman should then lead his National Commissioners, RECs, from at least 26 states to conduct the election in Zamfara State. All electoral officials in Zamfara State should be exempted from conducting any election again,” he said.
