Police warn trouble makers in Ebonyi, Ondo, Kogi, Katsina, Anambra
The Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, Awosola Awutinde, yesterday warned trouble makers ahead of the Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections.
Addressing journalists in Abakaliki, Awutinde said the command would open a situation room to entertain and respond to distress calls. He said the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, would engage in a joint patrol across the 13 local government areas of the state.
He said: “l want to use this opportunity to inform the hoodlums in the state to relocate to other places. We have enough manpower on ground to handle any situation.”
Similarly, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Undie Adie, vowed to deal with thugs and trouble makers caught during the elections. He urged political parties and their candidates to play the game by the rules and eschew violence, assuriing that security agents would be fair to all parties.
In the same vein, the Kogi State Police Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Busari, warned those in possession of illegal firearms to surrender them to the nearest police station or handover same to their traditional rulers.
In a statement by the Command’s spokesman, Williams Aya, the CP said whoever caught with such arms would be prosecuted accordingly.
In Katsina State, the Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, told newsmen that anyone found wanting during the elections would be arrested and prosecuted.
He said the command arrested 10 offenders during the February 23 elections in the state.
He said security would be re-enforced at the nine local governments perceived to be insecure due to the closeness to Rugu forest, a hideout of bandits.
The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Ladodo, said his command would deal decisively with any individual or group that would want to disrupt the peaceful conduct of the elections in the state.
