Usani, Owan-Enoh claiming APC gov’ship ticket in C/River

- From Eyo Charles, Calabar

The minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Usani and Senator John Owan-Enoh, are still claiming the governorship candidacy of the APC in Cross River State.

The two are bent that nothing could stop them from participating in the election.

Daily Trust reports that the ballot papers of political parties only carry their initials and logo without the name of participating candidates who had been earlier cleared by their parties and endorsed by INEC.

Usani and Owan-Enoh, yesterday, separately addressed journalists in their residences, talking tough and citing court rulings each purportedly in his favour.

Usani who spoke earlier said: “I am the authentic governorship candidate of APC in Cross River State. I am rigorously in the race. I have all the court rulings. I deliberately kept quiet all along so that mischief people do not continue to contort my ideas and projections to further confuse the people.

“I have been a very lawful and loyal party member and could not have afforded to plot my processes from the wrong angles knowing the implications,” he said.

Usani also said everything was being done to ensure that INEC reinstated all candidates from his faction for the state House of Assembly election.

On his part, Owan-Enoh said the confusion from Usani’s faction was an unnecessary distraction which should be ignored.

He told journalists and supporters that there was the latest Appeal Court ruling in his favour which overturned all other rulings, directing that a stay of action be maintained.

“A superior court has just given a ruling which has ordered a stay of execution of every other ruling in this matter between myself, minister of Niger Delta Affairs, as well as the ones between other interested parties. This ruling has given me victory, consolidating my position,” he said.

On the delisting of APC candidates from the House of Assembly election, he said his people were already concluding discussion with INEC, and was very hopeful that names of his candidates would be listed for the election.
