APC plans to use security to intimidate our members, Kuje PDP alleges
The Kuje Area Council chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area of alleged plans to use security agents to intimidate their members ahead of the rescheduled election in Rubochi, Kabi and Kwaku wards of the council.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the chairmanship and councillorship elections inconclusive at some polling units in three wards of Kuje area council following eruption of violence at the affected areas on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference in Kuje yesterday, the PDP chairman in the area, Alhaji Ismaila Mohammed Dogara, alleged that some APC chieftains have also perfected plans to use security agents to arrest some key PDP stakeholders any moment a day is fixed for re- run.
“We also have evidence of how the APC plans to write results in favour of their candidate after they have discovered that even if election is conducted 10 times in the affected polling units, PDP will still win,” he alleged.
He therefore called on the FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello to as a matter of urgency intervene, saying such move by APC may create crisis in the area.
“We are peace loving people but the moves by APC to thwart the wishes of the masses will be resisted,” he said.
Reacting, the special adviser on media and publicity to the chairman of the council, Haruna Usman, described the allegations as baseless, saying the PDP has already seen defeat ahead of the re-run election and was trying to draw sympathy from the public.
He said the ruling APC administration of the council was never known for thuggery and violence.
