The president of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod has charged the Nigeria Customs volleyball teams to excel at the forthcoming African Inter-club volleyball championships.

While addressing NCS’s women volleyball team, yesterday, at the Package B indoor hall of the National Stadium, Abuja ahead of their departure to the 2019 Women’s African Club Championship in Cairo, Egypt, he also commended the authorities of Customs for sponsoring the clubs.

At least 21 clubs from across Africa are expected at the annual championship which will be hosted by Egypt’s Ahly Club in the major two halls of the club from March 16-25.

He said “First, I want to commend the Nigerian government and Nigerian Custom Service (NCS) for allowing both male and female volleyball teams of the Custom Service to go for the African Club Championship in Cairo.

“The women team played to the quarterfinal level of the championship last year and they are going for the same championship this year.

“As a federation we are excited and grateful to Nigerian Custom Service for doing this for Nigerian volleyball. We’ve been looking for assistance and now NCS is giving us support by sponsoring their teams to club championships,” he said.

Nimrod therefore encouraged the officials and players of the teams to be worthy ambassadors of Nigeria by excelling at the championship.

“My prayer for you is to win the championship and pick the ticket to the World Club Championship, which is the biggest stage of volleyball.”

In her response, the captain of the team, Agara Priscilla, commended the NVBF president for his fatherly support and assured him of the team’s determination to do Nigeria proud.
