Poly graduate nabbed with cocaine, hemp in Edo

The Edo state Command of the National Drug Law Enforcemen­t Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 23-year-old polytechni­c graduate allegedly with crack cocaine, cannabis and rohypnol.

It was gathered that the suspect, Lucky Abel, was arrested at Okada community in Ovia NorthEast local government of the state.

It was further gathered that the suspected drug trafficker hails from Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.

Parading the suspect, the NDLEA State commander, Buba Wakawa, said the arrest was made possible following informatio­n received on the illegal activities of the suspect in the state.

“Drug exhibits recovered from the suspect include eight wraps of crack cocaine weighing 24 grammes, 53 wraps of skunk cannabis weighing 250 grammes and 45 tablets of rohypnol,” he said.

Buba urged youths and members of the public to shun drug traffickin­g and fulfil their dreams and aspiration­s in life legally.

He warned drug dealers to quit the illegal business or be prepared for arrest and prosecutio­n.

The suspect while speaking with journalist­s, said he was introduced to drug traffickin­g by a friend.

The suspect, a diploma graduate of Edo State Polytechni­c, said he has been smuggling drugs for over one year.

“I attended Okada Grammar School Okada and graduated in 2010. Thereafter I studied Business Administra­tion at Edo State Polytechni­c, Usen in 2013. After my diploma course, I wanted a job to sustain myself but there was none,” he said.

According to him, in the process of searching for a job, a friend introduced him to drug traffickin­g, adding that in order to get more money he sells different types of drugs like cocaine, cannabis and rohypnol.
